This is Life!

New SportsLife Podcast Brings Together Faith, Leadership, and Sport

by CHAD BONHAM

On August 28, SportsLife Leadership launched its first official podcast, “This Is Life.” Hosted by Chief Leadership Officer Jimmy Page, each 30-minute episode features conversations with coaches, athletes, executives, and culture-shaping leaders who are using their platforms to make a Kingdom impact.

President and Founder Dan Britton said the one-of-a-kind weekly podcast explores SportsLife’s three pillars: faith, leadership, and sport.

“I’ve had podcasts sent to me that cover sports leadership or sports and faith in one particular episode,” Britton said. “I love those and benefit from them greatly, but there’s wide open space for SportsLife to step into that space. We will combine all three components and provide transformational ministry and encouraging content for the Christian sports leader around the world.

“The content helps us infuse life into sports leaders and build sports communities for Kingdom impact.” – Dan Britton

New episodes release every Tuesday on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and the SportsLife official website. The inaugural guest was former NCAA championship swimmer and activist Riley Gaines, who is on the front lines advocating for the rights of girls and women in sports.

Other notable leadership voices to be featured include Leah Amico (three-time U.S. Olympic softball gold medalist), Mark Batterson (best-selling author and pastor), Keith Elias (NFL Executive for Player Development), Donnie Floyd (chaplain for Hendrick Motorsports), Jon Gordon (best-selling author and leadership expert), Mike Matheny (former MLB star and manager), Dayton Moore (former MLB general manager), Kenyon Murray (father of NBA twins Keegan and Kris Murray), and Brandon Slay (U.S. Olympic wrestling gold medalist).

“The podcast is designed to have powerful conversations with influential leaders from across the world of sport.” – Jimmy Page

“When you do that, you have an opportunity to reveal faith-based perspective of leaders in sport that have gone through adversity in both their personal and professional lives. We’re going to unapologetically look at all of the issues that we are often afraid to address,” Page said.

Topics will include:

  • Leading like Christ in competitive environments
  • Building cultures rooted in truth, accountability, and love
  • Overcoming adversity through faith
  • Using your platform to advance God’s Kingdom

“This Is Life” is crafted for every sport leader: coaches, athletes, team captains, athletic directors, sports ministry leaders, chaplains, and parents of athletes.

“We’re going to turn highlights from the podcast into 90-second reels and shorts,” Page said. “That will give us an enormous volume of condensed clips so we can introduce our audience to some fantastic guests and draw them to the longer conversations.”

Britton said the timing is right, given a spike in Christian influence across all sports and a vacuum in faith-infused sports leadership content.

“Athletes and coaches are taking bold steps into their sport and making a tremendous difference,” Britton said. “We want to tell that story. We want to be the megaphone to get the word out that God is sparking a revival in the world of sports because people are obediently stepping up and leading and making a difference.”
