And then I heard the voice of the Master: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I spoke up, “I’ll go. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8 MSG
Every morning and evening, I see this verse displayed in my bathroom. When I relocated my family to Kansas City, my college roommate gifted me a picture featuring Isaiah 6:8 to remind me of my calling to serve and my duty to respond. God transformed my simple prayer, “I’ll go. Send me!” into a catalyst for a new chapter in my journey.
Unfortunately, many leaders overlook this simple yet powerful invitation, believing it’s meant for someone else. Remember, not responding is still a response!
God is selecting and calling leaders to serve as His messengers. He is building His team, and all we need to do is answer the call. Isaiah was ready, available, and humble. We need to be present and attentive to God’s call in our lives. Isaiah’s response was immediate and personal:
“I’ll go. Send me!”
We need to have a “Samuel ear” (1 Samuel 3:10) to recognize when the Lord calls us. In listening for God’s voice, we should have “big ears” and “zipped lips”! Sometimes God speaks with a loud shout, while at other times, He communicates with a gentle whisper. I believe Isaiah heard a powerful, thunderous call-like a coach urging a player to enter the game.
Isaiah was prepared and willing to serve because he responded with a heart of obedience and submission. True leaders are always ready to hear the Lord’s call and are eager to respond.
Are you ready and willing to respond to God’s call in your life? Have you prayed, “I’ll go. Send me!”? Ask the Lord for a posture of humility and obedience to truly hear His call.
Lord, when You call, I will be ready. Grant me ears that are attentive to hear Your voice.
